He is the son of Rev. Henry and Patsy Dawson and has one daughter (Hannah) and one grandson (Wesley) with his wife Kandi of more than 30 years.
Chief Dawson has been a pillar of the Auburn community and a vital member of the Auburn city council for years.
Public Safety
Chief Tommy Dawson knows what it means to serve. He also knows that making a community strong starts with making it safe.
As a member of the Auburn Police Division for 25 years, Chief Dawson worked on the front lines to keep Auburn’s homes and businesses safe. The results show, as burglaries dropped from 1,000 per year when he became Chief to just 300 per year when he left his post.
As our voice on the City Council, Chief Dawson will continue to make the investments necessary to give our law enforcement officers the tools they need to keep us safe.
Economic Development
Jobs are the lifeblood of a growing community and Chief Dawson has worked tirelessly with his colleagues and with industries to keep Auburn growing in the right way.
For example, Chief Dawson worked hard behind the scenes with officials from Buc-ee’s on the store’s new location in Auburn, a project that will bring a projected $45 million in investment to the Auburn community.
